Protect PDF
Add a password (AES-256 encryption).
Lock a PDF with a password before sending it over email or a messenger. The file is encrypted with AES-256 — the standard banks use — and opens only for someone who knows the password.
Encryption runs on our server with a professional PDF engine; your file and password are used only for the seconds the operation takes and are deleted immediately.
How it works
Drop a PDF and enter a password above.
The server encrypts the file with AES-256.
Download the protected PDF.
Why this tool
Real AES-256 encryption
Not a viewer-level trick: the file content is encrypted, unreadable without the password anywhere.
Opens everywhere
Password-protected PDFs are a standard: Adobe, browsers, phones — all prompt for the password and open normally.
Nothing retained
File and password live in temporary memory during encryption and are wiped right after.
Frequently asked questions
What if I forget the password?
There is no backdoor — that is the point of encryption. Keep the password in a password manager; we cannot recover it.
How strong should the password be?
AES-256 is only as strong as the password. Use 12+ characters with variety; avoid names and dates.
Do you see or store my password?
The password is used in-memory to run the encryption and is never written to disk or logs.
Can I remove the password later?
Yes — if you know it, our Unlock PDF tool removes the protection and gives you an open copy.
