PDF to Text

Pull all text into a plain .txt file.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded

Pull all text out of a PDF into a plain .txt file — for quoting, translation, analysis or feeding to other software.

Extraction runs in your browser and preserves reading order page by page. Note: it extracts real text layers; scanned images without OCR contain no text to extract.

How it works

1

Drop a PDF into the box above.

2

Text is extracted page by page, locally.

3

Download the .txt file.

A 300-page report extracts in seconds, because nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Private by default

Contracts and drafts stay on your machine during extraction.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my scan produce an empty file?

A scanned page is a photo — it has no text layer. Run the file through our OCR PDF tool first; it adds a real text layer, and extraction will work.

Is the layout preserved?

Plain text keeps reading order and paragraph breaks but drops columns, tables and styling — that is the nature of .txt.

What encoding is the output?

UTF-8, which handles every language and opens correctly in modern editors.

Is my PDF sent anywhere?

No — extraction happens in your browser.
