OCR PDF
Make scans searchable — text layer added.
Make a scanned PDF searchable: OCR reads the pictures of text and adds an invisible text layer underneath, so the file becomes selectable, copyable and findable — while looking exactly the same.
Recognition runs on our server (it is genuinely heavy computation) and the file is deleted immediately after. Supported today: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Russian.
How it works
Drop a scanned PDF and pick the document language.
The server reads every page (about a second per page).
Download the same-looking, now searchable PDF.
Why this tool
Invisible text layer
Pages look identical; the recognized text sits underneath, powering search, selection and copy-paste.
Seven languages
English, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Russian — matched to our audience.
Feeds the next step
OCRed files work in our PDF to Word and PDF to Text tools — scans become editable in two steps.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the recognition?
On clean 200+ DPI scans accuracy is typically above 95%. Skewed, low-resolution or handwritten pages recognize worse — OCR reads print, not handwriting.
Does the PDF look different afterwards?
No. The scan images stay exactly as they were; only an invisible text layer is added.
How many pages can I OCR at once?
Up to 50 pages per file — recognition is compute-heavy. Split larger files first, then merge the results; both tools are free here.
Is my document stored?
No — processed over TLS and deleted right after recognition finishes.
